Having a baby is never easy on the wallet, so finding any way to save on all the things you need is always going to be helpful. But whether you’re a new parent or a seasoned pro, having a little one on the way often leaves you with little time to comparison shop.

So Consumer Reports has done some legwork to get you started. We’ve combed through all the different products for new parents we’ve tested in our labs, from strollers and high chairs to baby monitors and safety gates to pinpoint the ones that score well in our lab tests and offer some serious savings.

    High Chairs

The Graco Blossom stands out in our ratings, and passes our safety tests with high marks. Our testers also found it very easy to use, but only middling in terms of how easily they could clean it. It’s one of the larger and heavier chairs in our ratings, weighing in at 29 pounds, but it has wheels (with locks) so you can easily move it around even with your child in the seat.

Why it’s a good deal: With most retailers selling this model for almost $200, Amazon’s price is the lowest price you can get right now by far.

The Baby Jogger City Bistro performs exceptionally well in our safety tests and is very easy to use, but like some of the others in our tests, it could be easier to clean. It weighs 18 pounds, folds up for storage, and has a machine-washable seat pad, a food tray you can remove with one hand, and adjustable seat height. But the chair can’t recline, doesn’t feature wheels or casters, and doesn’t convert into a booster seat or toddler chair.

Why it’s a good deal: Though it’s only $20 off in the Paloma colorway compared with the usual price, if you’ve been eyeing this particular chair, now could be the time.

    Strollers and Stroller Wagons

Baby Trend Expedition 2-in-1 Stroller Wagon

According to our evaluator, this stroller wagon looks cool, is easy to steer, and has all the accessories to keep both grownups and kids happy. Instead of folding for storage in the middle, as do the other products we checked out, this stroller wagon collapses and flattens, which means you don’t have to remove the snack tray or even the shade in order to put it away. It also comes with a car seat adapter with secure straps for safely attaching an infant car seat.

Why it’s a good deal: Even though $20 isn’t the steepest discount, we really liked this wagon (and it’s selling for as much as $299.99 elsewhere).

Don’t be fooled, this 12-pound Summer Infant 3D Lite stroller is designed for kids 6 months or older, up to 50 pounds. As the top-rated umbrella stroller in our ratings, it aced our safety tests and received standout marks for maneuverability and ease of use.

Why it’s a good deal: This top pick is already affordable, so if the jet-black colorway is to your liking, $15 off makes it even easier on your wallet.

The Chicco BravoFor2 LE convertible double stroller packs useful features for a baby and an older toddler. It has a standard front seat, with an easy-to-adjust five-point harness, while a three-point harness on the “youth seat” keeps bigger kids safe, too (unless they prefer cruising on the standing platform). Our tests showed this stroller is top-notch on safety, and it’s a cinch to fold.

Why it’s a good deal: While this doesn’t represent the steepest discount, you can take the $30 you’re saving and treat yourself to some takeout that you don’t have to share with anyone else.

As with many umbrella strollers, this Safety 1st Step Lite Compact stroller is compact when folded and maneuverable when in use, even though it weighs 17 pounds. Its pockets provide additional storage options beyond the standard basket and/or tray. However, testers found the shape of the handles uncomfortable to grip despite their padding.

    Why it’s a good deal: You’re saving $15 on a top-rated umbrella stroller.

    Baby Safety Gates

Among the top-rated baby safety gates in our tests, this gate is made of steel and can be pressure-mounted or installed more securely using optional round bracket hardware. Among other pluses, it offers easy one-handed operation and a 180-degree swing. It’s very easy to install and received top scores in security as well.

Why it’s a good deal: Taking $40 off a trusty model like this is worth considering.

This usually pricey metal baby safety gate can also be used as a freestanding playpen. It has a convenient self-closing/hold-open door feature. But patience is required—it can be more difficult than some other gates to install, earning only a middling score in that area.

Why it’s a good deal: As mentioned above, this gate usually costs a pretty penny, so a discount like this may be too good to pass up if this is the model on your shopping list.

    Baby Monitors

This V-Tech is the value choice in the group we tested. This model comes with its own display and handles the video feed locally, so it doesn’t have the privacy and security issues of internet-connected models. It is also packed with extras like a night light and the ability to play lullabies to soothe a child to sleep. Parents with more than one infant should note that it’s the only model in our test that can’t support a second camera.

Why it’s a good deal: Already an affordable choice, this V-Tech monitor is even more appealing when it’s $10 off.

The Nanit lacks its own display. Instead, it transmits the video and audio through the company’s servers to an app on your smartphone. It’s the only one of the models with this configuration to earn a CR recommendation. However, it still falls short of the best wireless security cameras in privacy and security.

Why it’s a good deal: Walmart is the only retailer we’ve seen selling this monitor at such a low price. It’s priced at around $300 most everywhere else.

    Humidifiers

A humidifier is typically not necessary for your baby’s health. But you may still want one for comfort—for instance, to make heated rooms feel less dry.

The top-scoring ultrasonic Babymoov Hygro (+), which CR recommends for small rooms, was top-notch in overall performance. It is intended to humidify areas up to 215 square feet. Our testers give it excellent scores for its overall moisture output, convenience, noise, energy efficiency, and output when using hard water. Other pluses: It glows in the dark, and indicates and then shuts off when it’s empty.

Why it’s a good deal: Taking $10 off one of the best models in our tests is nothing to sneeze at.

The ultrasonic Air Innovations MH-701B has several features not often found on small-room models. It’s programmable and comes with a built-in humidistat to measure the room’s relative humidity (though in CR tests, the sensor’s performance is just average). The moisture output, energy efficiency, and noise levels earn excellent ratings. Convenience is also impressive, though cleaning may be a challenge because the water tank is quite small.

Why it’s a good deal: Taking $8 off a trusty model like this one is especially attractive when it’s somewhat expensive to start with.
