Lounging Essentials
Ugg Fluff Yeah
These almost comically fluffy and soft slippers are made with real sheepskin, and turned out to be a surprise fave among CR staffers during our Outside the Labs roundup of popular slippers. A multimedia content creator, Angela Lashbrook, said the Ugg Fluff Yeahs felt “like wearing clouds on my feet.” It’s worth noting that with a 1.5-inch angled platform, they might not be a good choice for those with mobility concerns.

Slip Sleep Mask
Is there anything more luxurious than snoozing with a soft silk mask? Crafted from delicate silk, it comes in a variety of colors, including a bold navy, a graceful ballet pink, and an opulent gold. (There are also prints on the company’s Amazon page featuring lipstick smooches, paisley, and an embroidered “rosé all day.”) It has a scrunchy backstrap that stretches rather than adjusts, which allows for a more seamless look (but perhaps an imperfect fit).

Adidas Originals Essential Hoodie
This Adidas sweatshirt is a pretty classic hoodie, more of a regular fit than oversized, that would fit in equally at the gym, on the street . . . and on the couch. And while it’s a great buy for yourself—according to CR’s Perry Santanachote in her hoodie review—don’t be surprised if your boo steals it. The luxuriously soft and plush inside will feel like a warm hug when you’re not around.
Luna Cotton Weighted Blanket
If you’ve been thinking about trying a weighted blanket, February could be the time. The cover of the Luna blanket is cotton; it doesn’t come with a duvet cover. Luna says you can wash it in cold water on the gentle setting and hang it to dry or tumble-dry on low heat. Bonus: It’s sold in 24 colors.

Wineberry Chateau du Chatelard Beaujolais 2018 Boxed Wine
Perhaps you need a tasty beverage to pair with your fancy dinner for one, or it’s time for a happy hour at home. Either way, CR staffers found this boxed Beaujolais from Wineberry fruit-forward and earthy, naming it the best of the bunch they tried. To that end, can’t find it using the links above? Renpho R3
The Renpho R3 Massage Gun might be the best all-around device in our evaluation for most average users, because it is small and lightweight, and relatively quiet compared with other devices. As a bonus, this can be charged with a standard USB-C charging cable. However, it’s not the ideal choice for people who want the most intense massage or the best way to massage areas on the back. Click the on-page coupon at Amazon to get $20 off the usual price of $90.

Shefit Flex Sports Bra
Treat yourself to a better support system during workouts. The Shefit Flex was the Editor’s Choice in a recent evaluation of the best sports bras. If you’re looking for serious support—and serious adjustability—this option is the way to go. Featuring a front zipper, the straps are thick and the bra fastens around the back with a wide, hook-and-loop lined band that threads through a large plastic clasp.

Iuga Pro Non-Slip Yoga Mat
Whether you’re working on your downward dog or taking a mindful moment to chill in child’s pose, the Iuga Pro yoga mat is a great choice. It’s also quick to dry and offers a middling amount of cushioning. It offers very good grip on the floor and excellent grip on hands and feet. It comes with a carrying strap.

If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your strength training, now may be the time to treat yourself: This is a very good set of adjustable dumbbells, with a good hand grip and lots of weight settings in the lower ranges—which makes these a good option for those toning or just beginning to use dumbbells. The dumbbells do remain the same length at all weights, which can require some adjustments to range of motion for certain exercises.

Keep an eye on your heart rate this Valentine’s Day with a smartwatch. In looks and functionality, the Series 8 Apple Watch introduced this past fall is very similar to last year’s Series 7 version. The Series 8 features new body temperature sensors for retrospective estimates of ovulation as well as a high-G-force sensor for car crash detection. It also has an EKG function designed to detect unusual heart rhythms. In our labs, the Series 8 ranks toward the top of our smartwatch ratings.

Apple Leather Link Watch Band
Swap out that tired old band for a new, snazzy style. “Apple’s Leather Link was my favorite of all the bands I tested, mostly for its versatile look and adjustable fit,” says Anastasia Signoretta, associate director of digital products at CR. “I only wish it was available in more colors, particularly a true black vs. the midnight color, which is more navy blue than black.”

DJI OM 5 Smartphone Gimbal
DJI’s OM 5 is a great choice for budding cinematographers, according to our recent gimbal review. The folding design is compact and lightweight, despite concealing a built-in extension rod that lets you film from a more diverse array of angles. And, while other gimbals require some fussing to get them balanced and ready to shoot, we had the OM 5 ready to go in seconds, simply by unfolding it, fixing the phone in its magnetic clamp, and turning it on.

Tune out the world and tune into your favorite playlist. The Beats Fit Pro share a lot of features with the Apple AirPods Pro. They’re a true wireless noise-canceling model, with very respectable sound and a certain amount of style. They also address the fit issues that some users have with AirPods, and they’re better suited to Android phone users.

The Coop Home Goods Premium Adjustable Loft pillow is made of shredded memory foam and stands out in our tests for support, no matter your size and whether you sleep on your side or back. It comes with a kit with extra foam so that you can adjust the filling to your liking. The Coop also keeps its shape well, showing little or no change in height or fluffiness in our resilience tests. Our panel of testers liked the look and feel of this pillow, too. The only test where this pillow falls slightly short is in how well it allows air to circulate. It sleeps slightly warm, so your head might feel a little sweaty at night.

Sweet dreams are made of new sheets. These Brooklinen Luxe Core sheets will fit a 14-inch mattress. They don’t shrink as much as some other cotton sheets we’ve tested. Luxe Core sheets are on the softer side based on our sensory test.

Dyson Super Sonic
The Dyson Supersonic lives up to its status as a luxury product. In our lab tests, it earns top scores for drying speed and is one of the quietest of the models we tested. Plus, it comes with five attachments: A diffuser, styling concentrator, a gentle air attachment, a flyaway attachment, and a wide-tooth comb. All attach easily to the nozzle via a magnet and store neatly in a case that also houses the hair dryer.

Bio Ionic Long Barrel Curling Iron
The Bio Ionic Long Barrel came out on top in our at-home evaluations of the best curling irons. Four of the five evaluators felt that the curling iron yielded shiny, healthy-feeling results. The extra-long barrel and multiple temperature settings produced bouncy curls that lasted for days for most users—although, one tester felt the barrel was too long for her short hair.

This rechargeable toothbrush is one of our highest-rated models. It has five brushing modes and was rated using the Daily Clean mode. It has a timer and a pressure sensor, includes a battery-level indicator, and can connect to a smartphone app.

Tushy Classic Bidet Attachment
Give yourself the gift of a pampered bum. The Tushy Classic bidet attachment has a dial to adjust the water pressure, as well as three settings fore and aft. A few users in our recent study of bidets said it was easier to move themselves rather than adjust the nozzle, so if you have limited mobility, this bidet might not be a great option. Some users found that it shifted a bit under the toilet seat. And one said the water pressure could be quite strong: “A 2 or 3 on the dial will give you a blast!” Most users found the Classic easy to install and had no trouble figuring out the water-pressure dial or nozzle adjustment switch.

Coffee and Tea Time
Huskee 6 oz. cup
Give yourself the gift of a better vessel for your morning brew. According to Bernie Deitrick, a CR test engineer, compact mugs with multiple small servings (rather than one big pour) can optimize the flavor and retain the heat of coffee. These Huskee cups are up to the task—according to Yeekai Lim, founder of Cognoscenti Coffee Roasters, a chain of coffee shops in the Los Angeles area—and aesthetically pleasing to boot.
Ello Campy Insulated Mug
Impressive performance coupled with an enamel splatterware-inspired design make for an insulated mug that’s functional and good-looking to boot. In our labs, the Ello Campy mug kept water hot for 5 hours in a temperature-retention test, a strong performance. It also has a top that’s exceptionally easy to clean, with few crevices. The mug has two gaskets, both of which are easy to remove and replace. The spring-loaded sipping mechanism is easy to slide open with a single hand.

The Nespresso Essenza Mini earns high marks for first-cup speed, repeat-cup speed, and cup-size consistency, as well as top marks for high brewing-range, which means you have plenty of control over the strength of your coffee. The easy-to-use Essenza Mini can brew three types of coffee—lungo, espresso, and ristretto—depending on the capsules you buy.

In our evaluation of cold brew machines, the Cuisinart Automatic Cold Brew Coffeemaker DCB-10 performed better than automatic models that cost almost twice as much. It does well across all our tests, and it’s the only model to receive an impressive score for ease of cleaning. Most parts are dishwasher-safe, unlike the other models in its class. This Cuisinart comes with a glass carafe (not plastic, like some competing models) and brews a full 35-ounce carafe in 25 to 45 minutes, a snap compared with the 12 to 14 hours it can take without an automatic brewing machine.

The Oxo Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder is a fantastic grinder and one of the lower-priced models that does well in our tests. It receives strong scores in our grind performance tests, making it a good choice for any brew method you want to use. It also earns a strong score for convenience, thanks to its clearly marked and easy-to-use controls. Our testers found it extremely easy to clean, too, because it has a removable hopper. It features 15 grind settings, a 12-ounce bean hopper (one of the largest), an auto-stop feature, and a timer.

Cookware and Kitchen Tools
With its pink blush exterior, white ceramic interior, and gold handles, the GreenPan Padova Reserve certainly makes a style statement. But how is it on substance? Not too shabby. In fact, its scores on all of our major cooking tasks were top-notch, including top marks for speed of heating. Its handles are sturdy and stay fairly cool to the touch. The nonstick coating is durable, although some of the nonstick pans we tested did even better on that test. The 10 pieces are two frying pans, two saucepans, a sauté pan, a stockpot, and four lids.

The 5.5-quart Le Creuset Signature tops our ratings in the Dutch oven category. It earns strong scores in our browning tests, the only Dutch oven to do so, and is a cinch to clean. It weighs 12 pounds, less than most, and has an 8-inch cooking diameter. The loop handles are nice and wide.

Upgrade your quarantine cooking routine. Made of stainless steel with a nonstick coating, this All-Clad Tri-Ply pan is a standout in CR’s egg-release test; the eggs easily slide out of the pan every time. It stands out in tests for cooking evenness, too, turning out nicely browned pancakes. The nonstick coating stands up to our steel wool durability test, and the handle stays cool to the touch. It’s oven-safe up to 500° F, and can be used on an induction cooktop.

Calphalon’s scaled-down waffle maker is ideal for small households. It will reliably turn out waffles, but you won’t be able to feed an army efficiently. The smaller rectangular grid makes only two square waffles at a time. The Calphalon CKCLWF1 scores impressive marks for even browning but loses some points in our test for color range. That means there’s less variation between the dark and light settings; waffles cooked on the light setting still come out pretty brown. A countdown timer indicates how much cooking time remains, and an alarm will sound once your waffles are ready. This CR Recommended model aces our assessment for ease of use, too. It stays cool on the outside throughout the cooking process, has a wraparound moat to collect excess batter for easy cleanup, and can be stored on its side to save space.

SodaStream Fizzi
If you’re looking for a very good model at a reasonable price, check out the SodaStream Fizzi. It scores well for making seltzer with a consistent amount of bubbles, and it’s among the easiest soda makers to use, too. The Fizzi’s bottle caps stay on well when the contents are under pressure. The CO₂ injector sits at the top of the water line, so gas entering the bottle doesn’t freeze the water in the nozzle and ice up the works. You can vary the carbonation simply by pressing the button for longer or shorter times. (If you buy this model from Target, it comes with two extra bottles.)
