Talking Cars 392: Best and Worst Cars of 2022

We look back at the vehicles we tested over the past year

Main theme: This week’s podcast takes a look back at the trends, surprises, disappointments, favorites, and not-so-favorites of 2022. With a nod to high school yearbook superlatives of years past, we include not just our favorites but also the best-looking, best dressed (favorite interiors), and most likely to succeed models we tested in 2022.

We also give our personal takes on which discontinued models we wish would return for 2023 and those we’re happy are gone. And perhaps most importantly, we discuss how the events of 2022 have changed and shaped the automotive industry and marketplace in ways we could not have imagined.

I never anticipated that engineering, the auto industry, and a few hundred tire changes and child seat installations would have brought me here: director of day-to-day operations at Consumer Reports' fabulous 327-acre Auto Test Center. The bonus is that the track's location in rural Connecticut leaves me close enough to home to also enjoy my children and husband while still squeezing in time for gardening, riding horses, and hunting for antiques.
