Ford Escape, Ford Maverick, and Lincoln Corsair Are Recalled for a Fire Risk
An engine failure can cause 2020-2022 models with the 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain to release flammable oil or fuel vapor
The Ford Motor Company is recalling 2020-2022 Ford Escape SUVs and Ford Maverick pickup trucks, and Lincoln Corsair SUV hybrids fitted with the 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain due to concerns that an engine failure could cause oil and/or fuel vapor to be released and lead to an underhood fire.
Ford says the problem has been isolated to manufacturing issues with hybrid and plug-in hybrid models involving an engine block or oil pan breach.
The recall involves 100,689 vehicles in the U.S.
The automaker says it’s not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this problem. Owners will be notified in early August.

Vehicles Recalled
• 2020-2022 Ford Escape hybrids and plug-in hybrids.
• 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair hybrids and plug-in hybrids.
• 2022 Ford Maverick hybrids.
The problem: An engine failure could release oil and/oil fuel vapor under the hood that could make its way near hot surfaces or other potential ignition sources.
The fix: Dealers will modify the under-engine shield and active grille shutter.
